YOUR LOCAL WATER PROFILE

Woodstock, Ontario

Woodstock’s municipal water comes from a network of wells operated by Oxford County. The 2025 system report identifies eleven well sources and four treatment facilities, rather than a single lake intake. Mineral hardness is a practical local consideration: the County publishes a historical operating range for the system. A household may receive…

Water source & treatment

Treatment differs across Woodstock’s facilities. Thornton uses ultraviolet disinfection and gas chlorination; Southside uses chlorine-based disinfection; Sutherland includes iron-removal filtration; and Trillium Line uses sodium hypochlorite. The County classifies six wells as groundwater under the direct influence of surface water and five as secure groundwater. Its annual report explains these distinctions and supplies operational results by facility, which should remain labelled rather than being combined into a supposed citywide tap-water value.

What this means for your home

For a Woodstock assessment, hardness testing and existing softener settings deserve attention before equipment is sized. The County’s published hardness range spans different source and operating conditions. Do not program a softener using the highest value without checking the property’s supply. If staining or taste is the concern, record where it occurs and review the existing treatment history. Velora can separate the household’s measured needs from background source characteristics and recommend a maintainable setup.

How to read the comparison

MAC means maximum acceptable concentration. Aesthetic objectives concern characteristics such as taste; operational guidance supports system operation. They are different kinds of reference and should not be treated as interchangeable pass/fail limits.

Use the report’s year, system, sample location and averaging method. Values from another plant, a private well or a household tap are not directly interchangeable.
