YOUR LOCAL WATER PROFILE

Stratford, Ontario

Stratford’s municipal supply comes from groundwater, with eleven wells feeding six treated entry points. This is a different source profile from an Ontario city supplied directly by a Great Lake. The City describes its deep-well water as mineral-rich and publishes both water-quality and system-summary reports. This profile applies to municipal connections. A…

Water source & treatment

The 2025 report describes chlorine disinfection at the well and pumping facilities. At Romeo Street, sodium silicate is added to sequester iron; that practice is identified specifically for that station rather than every entry point. The municipal system does not add fluoride. Published raw-water, treated-water and distribution results are kept separate. Raw-water turbidity, for example, measures water before treatment and must not be presented as the condition of water supplied to a home.

What this means for your home

For Stratford households, investigate mineral deposits and any recurring staining with a test at the property. A citywide description of mineral-rich groundwater cannot determine the correct softener setting or establish an iron problem in every home. Ask about existing filters, their service history and which taps are affected. Velora can assess those details and explain the maintenance involved in a proposed system. For sudden discolouration, first check municipal guidance and recent work in the area.

Profile scope

City of Stratford municipal well supply and distribution system; rural/private-well results require separate testing.

How to read the comparison

MAC means maximum acceptable concentration. Aesthetic objectives concern characteristics such as taste; operational guidance supports system operation. They are different kinds of reference and should not be treated as interchangeable pass/fail limits.

Use the report’s year, system, sample location and averaging method. Values from another plant, a private well or a household tap are not directly interchangeable.
