Water source & treatment
The 2025 North Bay report describes membrane filtration, ultraviolet disinfection and chlorination, with chemical systems for fluoride, pH adjustment and corrosion control. It provides both plant-entry and distribution measurements, which are different sampling locations. The figures below identify their location and year explicitly. The City also offers a household lead-sampling program; a sample inside an older property can answer a plumbing-specific question that a treatment-plant result cannot.
What this means for your home
Discuss the water at the tap, the equipment already installed and the outcome you want. For municipal homes, separate taste preferences from a measured plumbing concern. For private systems, arrange bacterial sampling and targeted chemical testing appropriate to the source. A filter or softener should have a defined job; do not assume lake-source water is hard or that a municipal annual report establishes the condition of a nearby private intake.
Profile scope
North Bay municipal Trout Lake system; private wells and lake intakes are separate supplies.
Sampling context
- Turbidity: 0.035–0.210 NTU. 2025 point-of-entry grab sample range; 220 samples. Not raw Trout Lake water. Source report
- Chlorine: 0.96–2.17 mg/L. 2025 point-of-entry grab sample range; 222 samples. Separate distribution sampling has different ranges. Source report
