Water source & treatment
Muskoka's 2025 reports identify Stewart Lake as MacTier's raw-water source and Little Lake as Port Severn's. Both plants describe coagulation and flocculation, settling, filtration, chlorine disinfection, fluoridation and final pH adjustment. Their monitoring figures belong to two separate treatment systems. The values below therefore name the plant instead of offering one invented Georgian Bay average; wider-shoreline municipalities should be researched through their own utility reports.
What this means for your home
Confirm municipal connection versus private supply, then plan treatment for the actual household or cottage. For private wells, the Township directs owners to regular bacterial sampling and public-health interpretation. For a private surface-water intake, assess water quality and the existing treatment train directly. Include seasonal shutdown, freeze protection, reliable power, sediment loading, peak flow and maintenance access in a cottage design discussion; municipal plant data does not establish performance at an island intake.
